Joining your Buy Nothing Community is easier than ever.
The most direct way to participate in this amazing experiment with us is to join the
mapBuyNothing App.  



Over the past 8+years, the Buy Nothing Project has grown to over 7,000 groups on the Facebook platform but we are ready to expand to another custom platform just for Buy Nothing participants. You may note that many Facebook groups are transitioning to the app and you’ll see them marked as such in our list of groups.

Looking for a Buy Nothing Community on Facebook? If you are looking for a group hosted outside of our app, you can find your community in the list below, and click through to it. The embedded link will take you directly to a social media platform, such as Facebook. From there, you’ll want to follow the directions from that platform. If you’re having trouble gaining access to any of the communities on this list, contact the person/people listed in that community’s description, as they are the only ones who will be able to help you. Each community is independent and locally-led.

  1. I live in Greenwich, CT, which does not have a group. However, there is one in the adjoining town, Stamford, CT. Is it permissible to join that one?

  2. Hi Arnold: You’re welcome to ask the local admins if your adjoining town if you can join their group and it will be up to them. However, please know that you can download the BuyNothing app (from the App Store and Google Play) and start sharing with neighbors right now. We’re in Beta and so you may be the first community member in the app in your neighborhood, but go ahead and start posting Gives and Asks, let your neighbors know about the app, and others will join, start posting, and see you in there. This is how we build community!
